What Makes Mr. D's Music Club tick?

July 12th 2020

Hailey wrote a terrific newsletter a couple of weeks back (See link below) to help prompt those folks who might still have reservations about trying our online summer offerings.

Here's what I can tell you for sure because we watch every class. Our teaching artists are really fantastic, the variety of classes we have on offer is excellent and that parents and kids are loving what we’re doing with some kids taking classes every day. We just need more of you to take a chance so we can stay afloat and keep these teachers on board as we move rapidly towards the school year where we hope we can help fill the gaps left by the cutting of music and art from many school districts. My teaching job was cut and the same for my son's school in Oakland.

Of course, online is very different than an in-person experience but as we let go of the traditional model it turns out it can be pretty great. Keep in mind that classes are deliberately small so there’s lots of interaction with the teachers and a genuine camaraderie is building between the staff and the kids which is very exciting. For those of you who know me, you have seen that I put my heart and soul into all my programs and that I wouldn’t settle for anything less.

Keeping Kids Inspired during this historic and momentous social upheaval is a big challenge. With our children facing uncertainty they need what we are doing and you signed your kids up in the past so you don’t need me to tell you about the “magical” “Spiritual” powers of music, art, and dance. I can tell you, hand on my heart that I am very proud of what we have put together, and personally speaking, I have discovered a whole new love of teaching. Stop by sometime. ~ Mr d
